Classes for Home School Students

Programs for Home Schooled Children

Thank you for your interest in our school.  Manheim Christian Day School has a history of educating children for 56 years in the Manheim community.  As we review our mission and vision for the school, we look forward with anticipation to the upcoming years as we seek the Lord’s purpose for the school.  We believe one of our purposes is to reach out into the community to work with families who presently are home schooling their children and looking to enrich that experience.

We are again offering select classes to home schooled children (grades 1-8) for the 2011-2012 school year.  These classes include: Music, chorus, Art & Physical Education.  Most of these classes meet 1 or 2 times per week and fees are structured accordingly.  Explanation and course pricing for the 2011-2012 school year is as follows:

~ Music – Instructed by Mrs. Cheryl Gingrich.  This program is designed to encourage music appreciation and worship through a variety of musical styles.  Basic music fundamentals such as reading music, ear training and harmonization are taught.  Students are given a working knowledge of music basics with opportunity for musical performance and ministry.  Classes meet 2x per week -  $300.

~ Chorus – Instructed by Mrs. Cheryl Gingrich.  Primary, Intermediate, Middle School and Mass chorus meet 1 x per week to prepare for the Christmas Program and Spring Musical.  Dramatic presentations are often a part of the presentation as well as instrumental recitals and solo opportunities. – $150

~ Physical Education – Instructed by Mrs. Ruth Dunkle Grades 1 & 2 and Mr. Justin Sauder Grades 3 – 8.  Promoting a healthy lifestyle through fitness is our goal at MCDS.  Sports such as soccer, softball, floor hockey, basketball, volleyball and other games will be used to encourage activity.  P.E. meets 2 x per week. – $300

~ Art – Instructed by Mrs.Kami Deppen.  Our goal is to help achieve an appreciation of different types of art and art history as well as an opportunity to experiment with different art mediums.  Hands-on techniques will give students ample opportunity to apply what is taught.  This only applies to the elementary students,.  Art meets 1 x per week. – $150

There will be a discount for multiple children from one family choosing to enroll in the program.  The child with the most units will pay 100% of the fee, the 2nd child with second most number of units pays at 70%, and the 3rd, 4th child pays 50% per unit.

Included in our packet are a Registration Form and three position statements for the school.  A $25.00 Registration Fee per family must accompany the Registration Form.  We are requiring that the tuition be paid in full by the first day of class.  Because changes to our schedule occur occasionally, we will make every effort possible to let you know of these changes beforehand.  We ask that communication with the teachers be handled at the teachers’ discretion during a free period, not during normal school time.

Thank you for considering MCDS in partnering to provide a quality, faith-based education for your children.
